Our Story

Lets go back to 1959 when it all started.

Roger Gareau, at only 22 years old, decided to buy a garage for $5,000. At the time, this was an important investment for him and he eventually reaped what he sowed.

In 1961, he gets the Renault franchise. His humble garage therefore became his first dealership. A few years later, in 1967, his brother Yvon Gareau joins the team. At first, Yvon was the gas station attendant and salesman.

From 1961 to 1974, they were selling a range of different vehicles. However, as Chevrolet models sold the most, Roger and Yvon decided to buy Abitibi Motor Sale. They therefore became the happy owners, in 1975, of a Chevrolet Oldsmobile Cadillac dealership.

With the growing success of his business, the idea of building a 33,00 square feet garage on a 500,000 square feet piece of land was becoming reality. The showroom could then fit 15 vehicles and Gareau Auto counted on a team of more than 50 employees.

In 1989, the Gareau family acquired of a Toyota dealership.

Gareau Auto is a family business: Roger Gareau, the founder, Yonv gareau, the president, and Pascal Gareau, Yvon's son, who join the team in 1991 and is now the president.

Finally, in 2014, the Honda dealership joins the Gareau Auto Group.
